Family-run since the beginning, Harmon Solar is a leading solar solutions provider serving Phoenix and the state of Arizona. Originally Harmon Electric, Inc., Richard and Jean Harmon founded the company in 1975 with the idea of offering exceptional electric and customer service. In 2005, their daughter Julie and her husband Dan bought the company, and developed a new direction for the organization. They began offering solar solutions in 2008 under the name Harmon Solar, with Harmon Electric, Inc. completing all the installations, and recently added lighting retrofit to the company’s services. In 2010, the company enjoyed 75% increased revenue from the previous year, and doubled their number of employees.

Julie King, Chief Executive Officer

Healthy living has always been important to Julie King. After earning a dual degree in chemistry and microbiology from Northern Arizona University, Julie worked for seven years in environmental sciences for Bolin Laboratories, (later known as Legend Technical Services). In 2005, Julie’s father was looking for someone to take over his successful electrical business, and Julie and her husband jumped at the opportunity. In 2008, they created Harmon Solar, allowing Julie to return to her roots of bettering the environment. As CEO, Julie oversees human resources, benefits, licenses, and organizational structure. She is also involved in business development and political advocacy for the solar division.

To this day, Julie continues her love for health, teaching fitness classes each morning before work. She has successfully participated in national fitness competitions and has completed two triathlons. She is ready for her third.

 


Dan King, Chief Operations Officer

In 2008, realizing the growth potential in the solar industry, Dan began developing Harmon Electric’s solar division, Harmon Solar. In less than three years, the organization went from an idea to the catalyst for the company’s tremendous growth. After two years as COO, King more than quadrupled the company’s revenue and added more than 15 employees. Prior to Harmon, Dan spent 12 years at Enterprise Rental Car, developing his business acumen and learning the importance of fostering a strong network of contacts.

Dan graduated from Northern Arizona State University (NAU) more than two decades ago with a degree in hotel restaurant management and never imagined he would be running an electric contracting firm. Now, he can’t imagine doing anything else.

 

Lisa Autino, Vice President of Accounting and Administration

A Certified Public Accountant, Lisa Autino began her career in public accounting before joining Corbins Electric in 1992 as the company’s Controller. Over her 21 years with the company, her roles expanded to include Chief Financial Officer and Secretar/Treasurer. She also spent 12 of those years as minority owner. Lisa joined Harmon Electric in 2013 as the Vice President of Accounting and Administration. She is committed to continued education and professional development. Lisa is a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She completed the Arizona Business Alliance Leadership Development Forum, Rapport Leadership International and is a Past President of the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association. In 2011, Lisa earned her Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation. Lisa believes that community involvement and giving back to the profession should be an integral part of a person’s life. She has been a participant in The W.A. Franke College of Business Executive Job Shadow and a judge for the BizBlock program at Northern Arizona University (NAU). Lisa is actively involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society as a student mentor in their One at a Time program. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from NAU.

 

Paul E. Lively, Vice President of Operations

Paul has 35 years of experience in the electrical construction industry, bringing to Harmon Electric a heightened level of experience in field operations, estimating, budgeting, project management and administration. A natural leader, Paul has excelled in the electrical contracting industry, beginning as a journeyman and then working his way up through the ranks into management. As a team leader, Paul has been directly involved in the development and management of construction projects throughout the Southwest, with a proven successful track record in commercial and industrial projects in government, utilities, health care, education, hospitality and sports facilities sectors. Paul joins Harmon Electric after eight years as the Arizona Regional Manager for Bergelectric Corp. Prior to that he was the V.P. of Pre-Construction and Engineering at IES in Houston and prior to that the Division Manager for Morrow Meadows Corp. in San Diego. Active in the electrical industry, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Electrical Contractors Association, the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, and Board of Directors for the Houston chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors.

 

Ralph Romano, Residential Sales Manager

Ralph Romano has more than 20 years of experience in executive management, sales, and call center operations. Ralph joined Harmon Solar in February 2013 to create a residential inside solar sales division. He is now responsible for the management of the entire outside and inside sales operation, including training and development of the sales team and call center. Ralph has held a variety of sales and operations leadership rolls at companies large and small. Prior to joining Harmon Solar, he spent nine years at GE overseeing three western region centers in the automotive warranty division. Here he earned the designation of a Six Sigma Blackbelt. Prior to that, Ralph assisted an Internet start-up company develop sales and operations teams. He has also worked for Verisign, Charter Communications, Warrentech, and NCO. Currently, Ralph is a managing partner of Contact Center Connection, a consulting business that provides call center optimization and outsourcing solutions.

 

Joshua Gamble, PV System Design Engineer 

If anyone was ever tailor made for a job in the renewable energy field, it’s Joshua Gamble.  He is a self-proclaimed “renewables nut” who makes his own vehicle fuel from waste vegetable oil.  Joining Harmon Solar in August 2011, Joshua is NABCEP Certified PV Installer whose values and results speak for themselves. Joshua designs residential and commercial on and off grid photovoltaic systems, while ensuring quality control throughout the construction process. Joshua was responsible for many designs; including a 200kW parking structure mounted photovoltaic system for Cottonwood Elementary School.

Prior to joining Harmon Solar, Joshua worked as a test engineer intern for TUV Rheinland PTL where he checked PV modules for compliance with UL and IEC standards. Joshua earned his Bachelor’s Degree in conservation biology and a Masters Degree in alternative energy engineering from ASU.

In the past year, Harmon Solar installed solar solutions on three Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona homes. The company approached outside vendors to donate a portion of the equipment for the two photovoltaic systems, and Harmon covered the remainder of the parts, plus installation labor. In addition, Harmon Solar committed to becoming HFHDF’s solar partner for future home builds.
