Fueling solar power in the unlikeliest of places, Harmon Solar recently installed photovoltaic systems on the existing shade canopies of five Valley Shell service stations. Owned by Arizona-based The Carioca Company, these stations are only the beginning of a plan to install solar on 15 more stations in the coming year. Each Shell station requires approximately 220 panels to generate approximately $10,000 per year, per location in energy. Share and Enjoy:

What if people ordinarily unable to install photovoltaic systems because of the initial cost or lack of an unshaded, well-oriented roof could buy into a community installation and receive a corresponding offset on their utility bills?
