PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Foreman is responsible for planning, assigning, participating in, and inspecting the work of electricians, and all assigned workers.  Work includes the design and construction of special electrical apparatus and fixtures and the preparation of estimates for construction, repair, and installation projects. Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior and is reviewed through discussions and inspection of completed work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, assign, schedule, and supervise the work of electricians and helpers engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, apparatus, and appliances; may participate in the more complex work or on smaller projects.

Train and instruct subordinates on detailed procedures.

Conduct periodic inspections and give onsite supervision over hazardous or unusual work assignments; ensure availability of equipment, materials, and supplies.

Estimate the time and material costs required for projected jobs; keep cost and job records and submit reports; initiate requisitions for supplies, tools, and equipment.

Enforce safety regulations, rules, and working conditions per company policies.

Train personnel in the safe operation of equipment and tools.

Communicate with Superintendent and Project Manager regularly on status of project(s)

Ensure that directions given are understood and being followed by assigned crew to maintain productivity and complete assigned tasks.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED; 10 years of related experience including supervisory or lead experience and considerable experience as a journeyman electrician or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment, materials, and tools of the electrical trade
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work
  • Ability to supervise the work of skilled workers and laborers
  • Considerable knowledge of the National Electrical Code for electrical installations
  • Ability to interpret and work from instructions, penciled plans and sketches, and blue prints
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with superiors, subordinates, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to estimate materials and labor costs

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead

Lift 50 pounds unassisted

Constantly moving on your feet

Climb ladders (all types)

Completing overhead work for full day assignments

Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned tasks

Requires exercising of discretion in decision making process and maintaining of strict confidentiality with respect to customer, employee and company proprietary related information
