Innovation is the soul of civilization, and this cannot be better epitomized than by the sweeping revolution of solar power. Once reserved for wealthy corporations and luxurious mansions, the technology of solar power is now available for use in your own home.
Solar panels in themselves are a technological marvel, and now we at Harmon Solar are using them to help homeowners save a bundle on energy bills. Each solar panel is comprised of scores of photovoltaic cells, which capture solar energy and send it to an inverter. The inverter converts the energy to the alternating current (AC) used by the lights and appliances in your home. From the inverter, the energy is either used or stored. The surplus energy will cause your electric meter to reverse, storing up energy reserves and literally reducing your power bill. Energy savings with solar power are also increased by the tax incentives given by some states to those who use residential solar panels.
We at Harmon Solar were recently able to offer these advantages to one of the residents of Tucson, Arizona. We worked to install 475 square feet of solar tiling to the roof of our client’s Arizona house, and they immediately began to save on utility bills. A conservative estimate places their energy savings at almost $1300 per year-the equivalent of a healthy down payment on a car, perhaps. Our client chose to take advantage of our lease program — this is an excellent option for those who might not be ready for the higher up-front cost of purchasing a solar
panel array. However, though the leasing program is cheaper, it does remove the possibility of tax credits. The cost of purchasing solar paneling may be heavily offset by the 25% tax credit offered to Arizona residents who own solar-powered equipment. Solar panel cost is quickly becoming less of an obstacle to those who would like to reduce energy costs and help their environment.
If you live in the Tucson area and would like to know more about how you can save on your bills and help preserve the earth’s natural resources, please feel free to contact us. We would be happy to provide you with more information and an estimate on either a lease or a purchase, and you can start feeling better about both your budget and your ecological footprint.
